What a sight greeted King James II and his army of 6,000 Frenchmen as they sailed up the estuary of the Bandon River in 1689.
A little vllage nestling between the hills and the shoreline.
Kinsale is in a beautiful location. Its maze of tiny streets have changed little over the centuries. Georgian houses, Spanish arches, Dutch design - the visitors who sailed up the river have left their mark on this fishing village.
And today, Kinsale is regarded as the gourmet capital of Ireland. Thankfully, many who sailed the Bandon over the years, knew their way around a kitchen.
