Synopsis:
It’s becoming something of a tradition: the Belgian National Lottery has once again chosen mortierbrigade to produce its end-of-year film. This year’s film features familiar characters from past commercials in a brand-new story. The film opens in a freezing garden on Christmas Eve, where a snowman is standing, all alone. He dreams of a warm, cosy Christmas. He crosses his fingers and makes a wish. Will it come true?
Jens Mortier, creative director and partner of mortierbrigade: “Blinkink and Parabella surpassed our expectations with their magic and animation skills. The Last film was fantastic, but this one is even better. I have nothing but respect for the Blinkink animators who spent 50 days in succession putting together this wonderfully appealing and heart-warming story, frame by frame in stop motion.”
Every visual element was entirely hand-made and the images were filmed in stop motion. It was a mammoth task; but, judging by the fantastic results, one that was definitely worth the effort. Mikey and Dan of Parabella explained: “We loved returning to the world and characters from our 2015 Belgian Lottery film. It was important for us that we kept the same design and the playful attitude of the tinkering woodland animals, but we also wanted to make the world bigger, introduce some new characters, in the form of the family through the window. Our first glimpse into the world of humans.” Belgian artist Spencer the Rover created the wonderfully evocative score for the film. It can be seen on Belgian national television and at the cinema starting today.
