Chas and Dave supply the soundtrack for a Christmas tale from Heathrow Airport, starring two elderly teddy bears visiting their family. The film follows the two bears as they land at Heathrow, go through passport control and walk through arrivals, anxiously waiting for someone to claim them. The work is part of Heathrow's 70th anniversary campaign, which kicked off earlier this year with First Flight and featured David Bowie’s When I Live My Dream.
The team pushed the boundaries of VFX with the creation of two 100% CG animated, photoreal teddy bears, featuring as the main characters in Heathrow’s, ‘Coming Home'. It’s the first VFX project of its kind for the team, requiring the creation of new bespoke tools to meet the demands and scale of the job. The male and female teddies have over two million individual hairs, each crafted to reflect the light and the movement encountered on their journey through a busy airport. The challenge of creating faux, photoreal fur required a relentless pursuit of detail, through ultra realistic fur simulations.
For the first time in its history, Heathrow Airport launched a seasonal video campaign celebrating 'the best gift of all' this Christmas. Throughout their 70 years, Heathrow have specialised in reconnecting people with their loved ones, especially at Christmas. It reminds us that coming home is better than any other gift at a special time of year. The ad follows two much-loved, aging teddy bears as they land at Heathrow. It captures the tenderest of moments between them as they travel through the airport and take in all the familiar sights and sounds of Britain's busiest travel hub.
