Grant has cerebral palsy, which causes his hands to shake and makes it very difficult to use conventional cutlery. He approached 4c Design to help design a spoon that would enable him to eat without spilling food. The solution came through working with the shakes and not trying to counter them, simplifying the design to a single moulding. This made it both durable and low cost. The project was done pro-bono as part of 4c’s internship scheme and has now been recognised as a solution for other conditions such as Parkinson’s and essential tremors.
