mmorph is an adventure into new ways of delivering interactive music in the browser and beyond. We believe that the workflow behind this example opens up and infinite amount of creative possibilities in the world of interactive media, music and sound.
A collaboration between global music agency MassiveMusic, creative technologist Owen Hindley, interactve music developers Reactify and design studio Grotesk, mmorph is an adventure into new ways of delivering interactive music in the browser environment.
Essentially, mmorph is a unique workflow. Look beyond this initial example and you open up an infinite amount of new creative possibilities in the world of interactive music and sound.
The example on the mmorph website combines video and modern SVG animation techniques with mmorph's audio engine, employing a combination of Pure Data and the Heavy compiler. The end result is low-level javascript code that can run in the browser.

The exact same engine can be exported via this workflow to run in the Unity or Unreal engines via FMOD, iOS, OS X, OpenFrameworks etc.
This unique approach allows composers and sound designers to work with the tools they are familiar with (e.g. Pro Tools, Logic, Cubase, Ableton), rather than having to hand over their ideas to the development team for re-implementation, resulting in a faster, more expressive workflow.
This approach gives us a more dynamic and flexible music and sound experience for the web, VR and beyond.
