Describe the challenges and key objectives

The challenge was to produce a creative concept that would translate the idea that the Lion Gad had won at Cannes was much more than just a regular lion. Rather, it is our Lion. We had to give it personality to show that it was something unique. Just like Gad Design.

Describe the brief from the client

Gad, one of the most renowned design companies in Brazil, won its first Silver Lion award at Cannes, in the very first year of the Design category being included in the festival. The brief in question was to promote and share all the pride and recognition generated by this award in an innovative manner among the concerned stakeholders.

Describe how you arrived at the final design

The idea was to recreate the symbol that represents the Cannes Lion, employing attributes such as authenticity, style and drive. So we decided on a more spontaneous and gestural redesign, which was baptized the Gad'Lion, with personal characteristics, starting off with the roar: GRRAAAD'!!!

Give some indication of how successful the outcome was in the market

The Gad'Lion immediately won the public over. It appeared on company walls, on T-shirts, office material, mailing lists, billboards and digital media. A mini site with augmented reality was created so that browsers could feel what it’s like having a Cannes Lion, one of the most sought after awards in global media, in the palm of their hand.
