Describe the brief from the client

Communicate the important work done by the UK charity Paintings in Hospitals, who improve people’s emotional and physiological experience of healthcare environments through the display of loaned artworks.

Describe the challenges and key objectives

To promote the positive work done by the charity on an emotional level, in often stark circumstances.

Describe how you arrived at the final design

We invited contemporary artists to respond to images of medical artefacts that are symbolic of the uncomfortable and unpleasant experiences commonly associated with healthcare.

The resulting posters communicate how the charity transforms people’s experience of healthcare through the power of art.

Give some indication of how successful the outcome was in the market

Originally intended to be displayed in the charity’s London head office, the posters were so positively received that they were rolled out in hospitals nationwide.
