Describe the brief from the client

To create a name and logo for a brokerage firm.

Describe the challenges and key objectives

When partners Upen Patel and Dhruv Narang, veterans in trading stocks, wanted to start a brokerage company of their own, they had just 1 motive - to generate profits regardless of the vagaries of the market.

The challenge was to create a communication tool, starting with a logo and name that describes the company's philosophy.

Describe how you arrived at the final design

While creating various options, we stumbled upon something interesting. We realized that the first letter of their names, when put together forms ‘UPDN’. The name perfectly captures how the market behaves: it goes up and down. In addition, it describes the philosophy of the company - whether the market moves up or down, the investors will always make profit.

Give some indication of how successful the outcome was in the market

The client fell in instant love with the idea, which meant we could go ahead. We extended the ideas to create collateral, too.

The market response was overwhelming. People started associating the company with profits, great returns, and reliable investment.
