Synopsis:
Since 2010, Bombay Sapphire has sponsored Artisan Series, an art competition that provides emerging artists with an international platform to showcase their work. Thousands of emerging artists submit artwork online for a chance to be featured in an art exhibit at Art Basel in Miami. Bombay Sapphire wanted to raise awareness for Artisan Series and the emerging artists that are competing this year. The target audience was 25 to 35-year-old men and women who are enthusiastic about art.
Our target audience spends a lot of time on the internet. The internet also happens to be a place that is not as beautiful as it could be because it is full of unpleasant banner ads. The internet could definitely use more art. So Bombay Sapphire created Artifier, a Chrome extension that replaces banner ads with beautiful artwork from Artisan Series artists.
Artifier beautifies your browsing experience, letting you discover emerging artists from Artisan Series as you browse your favorite websites. Artifier used over 400 art pieces created by emerging artists from Artisan Series and all the featured artwork was unbranded. If you liked one of the works of art that you saw, you just had to hover over the banner to learn more about the art piece and the artist that created it.
We turned the internet into an endless art gallery and people loved it. Thousands of people installed the extension on their Chrome browser and Artisan Series website traffic increased by 155%. Artifier transformed 3.8 million banners a month, that’s a media value of $1 million a year. All of which costs Bombay Sapphire a grand total of $0. In the same way art questions the world, we questioned advertising. But more importantly, we changed the game by pushing advertising into a new frontier.
Artifier is still available at Google’s Chrome Web Store for free. Once installed, Artifier will beautify your browsing experience by replacing banner ads with art from Artisan Series. Artifier has a 4.5-star rating on the Chrome Web Store.
