Finnair: Match Made in HEL – Connecting the skateboarders of East and West

To build interest in flying Via Helsinki and communicate the fast connections between Asia and Europe, we launched a campaign that opens Helsinki Airportâs fast features to be tested by the worldâs top skateboarders. The campaign was called âMatch Made in HELâ and it was put together with Arto Saari, named Thrasher Magazineâs Skateboarder of the year 2001 â skateboardings highest honor.
For two days in October 2014, some of the best skateboarders, from both East and West, connected on the top of the world at Helsinki Airport. This first-ever skate session was hosted by Arto Saari and his world-class crew.
Within days after the launch, the campaign had gone viral. Major media sites like The New York Times and Daily Mail picked up on the story. Plus loads of other sites like Mashable, Highsnobiety and Thrasher had taken notice too. The campaignâs reach, with all itâs visually stunning materials, can already be counted in millions!
