Synopsis
How can the office help to inspire us? The German charity organization Arbeiter Samariter Bund Hessen (ASB) asked itself this question and consequently founded a consulting company, as well as creating the book “Officina Humana”, which we designed and implemented visually. Every refinement in its design follows the aim of making the essence of the office experienceable.
Outcome
The company ASB with its rather conservative image gets a future-oriented and younger brand by the look and feel of the book.
Prospective clients are getting examples for possibilities of already existing inspiring spaces and so they have key features and impressions for the following consultancy.
Additional there is explained the origin and history of the office.
The first print run of „Officina Humana“ was 3.000 copies and the
bookstore edition was out of print within 4 months.
Further books are going to be produced.
The original brief was to convert the content into book form.
Now there are application examples.
By different materials and page sizes the content can be transported
in a poetic manner.
Execution
There are two different cover variations. The french folder with a generative data visualization for the bookstore edition and the dust jacket made of felt - which embodies the origin of the term office - for intern use of the ASB Hessen Service GmbH.
The white hardcover, with its imprinted title, opens up a space for thought.
Four different papers symbolise the multifaceted nature of the theme and chapter separators in the form of tabs combine the vision with tradition. The history and facets of the office are discussed over seven chapters. The mixture of Garamond and Akkurat fonts and the chapter separators in the form of tabs connect the vision with tradition.
Blue pages with chapter-spanning quotations open the chapters.
The perforations represent an active gesture of office work, the number of which increases with each chapter.
Campaign Description
Every age has its difficulties. Today we need inspiration to create office spaces as places where people feel well to prevent mental illness, depressions or burn-out.
The consulting company and the book “Officina Humana” would like to support and inspire small and medium-sized companies in relation of creating offices as spaces for development of employee potential.
