This book accompanied artist Grayson Perry’s solo show at the Museum of Contemporary Art Australia. MCA Graphic Design Manager Claire Orrell based the concept on the multiple layers of Grayson’s practice and personality. Scalloped edges, inspired by his layers of petticoats and recurring shapes in his work, reveal details of artwork beneath. Foil stamps nod to ceramic lustre. The use of both contemporary and more traditional crafted fonts echoes his modern take on traditional mediums. Three contrasting colours are set against each other to give an irreverent edge, reminiscent of his character.
