Script in English

MVO:A wise woman once said “ I believe the children are the future”. Fair play, Whitney Houston. Future or not, today’s kids seem to have it made - strapped into 4x4s, picking the Parma ham out of their ciabattas on the way to Pony Club. But let’s not forget tradition - like family lunches in the cultural institution that is your local pub - it’s almost as good as a museum, except here no one gives out if they put sticky fingers on the glass. They may learn trigonometry and Yeats at school, but where will they learn about life, my friends, LIFE? Pony club? I don’t think so. Yes, a family outing to a Dublin pub is vital to the development of Fionán and Saoirse’s social skills and not merely an excuse for a sneaky pint over a lunch that you didn’t have to cook yourself. Though it’s that too.

SFX:bar noise

ANN:Dublin pubs – the best pubs in the world. Brought to you by the LVA. Always drink sensibly.

Brief Explanation

Ireland’s recent economic boom has led to the emergence of a lot of “new money” families who drive flashy cars and spoil their children. “Fionán” and “Saoirse” are old Irish names that have perversely come back into fashion among this set. And at the risk of telling everyone what they already know, Yeats is a famous Irish poet that every Irish schoolchild learns about ad nauseam.
