MVO:Historically, pubs were men-only. “Olaf!” we’d holler to our Viking barman, “another jar of mead and if herself is asking, I’m out chasing monks up round towers.” Times changed, but the message from the missus stayed the same:“get your arse out of that pub”. Which exact woman it was who decided instead to get her arse into the pub is lost to history, but pretty soon came the 70s and our bridges, like your bras, were burned. Nowadays the toilets are spotless, there are gas heaters in the garden because you’re always freezing and Olaf the barman is quote “a big nordic ride”. Yes, Dublin pubs are now designed for women and, women are here to stay:for
better for worse, for richer for poorer, till a trip to the jacks us do part.

ANN:Dublin pubs – the best pubs in the world. Brought to you by the LVA. Always drink sensibly.
Brief Explanation
A “ride” or, often, a “big ride” is a Dublin colloquialism for a good-looking person of either sex, though usually male. “The jacks” is slang for the toilets.
