Script in English

MVO:Here’s a thought:if the world’s leaders sat down in a Dublin pub, they’d have it all sorted in less time than it takes to say “Condoleeza, its your round and grab a bag of nuts for Mahmoud while you’re up there”. Who among us has not tackled the thorniest of issues after three pints, and won? We’ve toppled governments, halted global warming and remembered the theme tune to Airwolf. If G8 summits came with Sky Sports, scampi fries and a barman perhaps they’d finally get things done. So here’s an open invitation to all the presidents and prime ministers listening:if ye can stop invading each other for a couple of hours, drop round to my local Tuesday evening and work it out. Sure, seeing as you’re VIPs and all, you can even have the snug.

SFX:bar noise

ANN:Dublin pubs – the best pubs in the world. Brought to you by the LVA. Always drink sensibly.

Brief Explanation

In traditional Irish pubs the “snug” is a small area that is separated from the rest of the bar by some kind of partition – often with a small door attached for more privacy. Usually they seat a maximum of about 8 people and, where they exist, they are highly sought-after.
