With brick and mortar sneaker stores struggling to keep up with online re-sellers, Foot Locker needed an innovative way to drive people to its stores. Using the insight that sneakers enthusiasts view shoes as artwork, Foot Locker transformed over 300 of its stores into a museum-like experience, complete with its own audio tour.
As shoppers browse the store, they can use their mobile device to hear exclusive audio excerpts about their favorite shoes as told by NBA stars, legendary designers and influential bloggers. These excerpts covered everything from the design inspiration to the cultural impact behind each sneaker, connecting shoppers to their favorite kicks like never before.
Since launching audio tours in over 300 stores, sneaker shopping at Foot Locker has transformed into an entertaining and interactive experience. The Foot Locker app also began trending in the app store, leading to a 105% increase in downloads.
