LG has developed a new technology called OLED, where pixels, as opposed to conventional LED televisions are self luminiscent. This technology cancels the need for a backlight. And hence they can obtain a black colour comparable only to the blacks of Rembrandt. This perfect black background helps bring out the other colours displayed in front of it.
