MVO: At depths of 500 feet, at 30 degrees latitude and 51 degrees longitude, we encounter a specimen of Balaenoptera Musculus, also known as blue whale.
This particular whale, when it reaches the mating season (usually between the months of January and February), can drop a load of 150 litres of semen into the ocean in a single day.
There are a total 27,000 whales in the entire ocean, including the blue whale. That makes a total drop of 4,050,000 litres of semen daily, travelling through the currents. And due to its lesser density when mixed with salt water, it tends to float on the surface.
This means that, for every cubic meter of ocean water, you'll find 10 hectolitres of semen in ocean water, no matter where you are.
So if you're a female, the next time you're swimming peacefully in the ocean and accidentally gulp in a bit of water, think about it.

MVO: A 500 metros de profundidad, en la latitud 30º y longitud 51º, nos encontramos con un ejemplar de Balaenoptera Musculus, comúnmente llamada ballena azul.
Esta ballena en particular cuando llega su temporada de apareamiento, aproximadamente durante los meses de enero y febrero, pueden llegar a descargar al océano 150 litros de semen en un solo día.
Hay un total de 27,000 ballenas en todo el océano incluyendo la ballena azul. Esto hace un total de 4 millones 50 mil litros de semen viajando por las corrientes. Dada su inferior densidad al mezclarse con el agua salada, el semen tiende a mantenerse en la superficie.
Eso significa que por cada litro cúbico de agua de mar, encontrarás 10 hectolitros de semen, independientemente de en qué parte del mundo estás.
