News can be forgotten, songs last longer. Acik Radio (Open Radio) is a station that shares news in depth along with music from all around the world. We decided to combine the two for a good cause: Though every day we hear many things that need to be remembered, they fade away very quickly. We thought, what if each day was cast into a song, news were made into lyrics and then were composed as the song of that specific day? In a fast paced world people grow indifferent to important issues very easily. Acik Radio is a station that wants political, social and environmental issues to be acknowledged more by the people. This innovative way of serving news and capturing a day in such a memorable form, attracted a lot of people's attention.
The news talk in the morning was turned into lyrics and was then composed into a song. It was aired on the same day before it was over as 'The Song of the Day' on the radio station. Every day, a new song was created for that specific day. Many different styles were used, different composers, celebrities, several amateur and professional musicians were involved in such a creative challenge, willingly. It became a matter of curiosity for the followers wondering what Acik Radio will achieve each day. Although this is an ongoing campaign for only 20 days, many talented people were sucked into the challenge of creating a song in a day. Hence we have worked with several different musicians from all walks, each creating a hype around the station in their own circles. The attraction has resulted in many other famous musicians lining up for upcoming days. These include Turkey's biggest rock band, the most successful philharmonic orchestra, several other pop and rock singers as well as comedians, internet phenomena and rising amateurs.
