Wanted to give you a look at this new experiential campaign from creative agency mono, Advance Auto Parts (AAP) and partners Monroe & Moog called Pothole Dummy. The campaign aims to increase consumer awareness of the damage potholes cause (an estimated $3 billion in damage to cars annually) by taking to the streets of Chicago this week and asking, "What if, instead of trying to avoid potholes, one brave soul attempted to hit every pothole he saw?" The teaser video's attached.
Throughout the week, the Pothole Dummy car will aim for as many potholes as possible over a five-day shoot. Behind the wheel will be Second City comedian Daniel Strauss, who will be narrating his journey on the site's live feed and across social media (@potholedummy, #PotholeDummy). Some local celebrities like Chicago Bears' tight end Zach Miller and punter Pat O'Donnell, plus former Blackhawks' center Ed Olczyk, will be tagging along for the ride.
Quote from Chis Lange, Founder & Managing Creative Director:
"After months of round the clock work, we're excited to unleash Pothole Dummy on the streets of Chicago,” said mono’s Founder and Managing Creative Director Chris Lange. “This idea defies the definition of traditional advertising, bringing together just the right blend of technology, innovation and entertainment, to help educate all of us about the real damage created by potholes that emerge in the spring."
