Ahead of the launch of Minecraft’s new Super Duper Graphics Pack early next year, Super Duper will make its debut in musical form with “The Super Duper Minecraft Musical” during MINECON Earth. The musical number stars Melissa Benoist (Supergirl, Glee) as she discovers the exciting, new world of Super Duper graphics in Minecraft. The music itself was written and composed by Tony Award and Pulitzer Prize-winner Tom Kitt (Next to Normal, Bring It On musical) in partnership with 215 McCann and Minecraft.

The long-form musical piece will debut during the first half of MINECON Earth on Saturday, November 18th, the yearly Minecraft convention that garners millions of viewers. The event is a community celebration of the game, and also announces the biggest updates and information about Minecraft in the year ahead. Due to the excitement around “The Super Duper Minecraft Musical,” Minecraft commissioned Tom Kitt to create a song that will act as the finale of the event, to be performed by MINECON Earth host Will Arnett and Mojang’s very own Lydia Winters.

The original “Vanilla” Minecraft is most recognizable for its blocky shapes and pixelated textures. The new Super Duper Graphics Pack bring 4K graphics, dynamic shadows, movement in leaves and grass, and realistic elements such as beams of light and water physics into the game.
