Tech for Snapfax by Stinkdigital
The world’s newest yet most analogue social media platform has launched at the Cannes Lions festival this year. The Snapfax service lets users upload an image - such as a picture of Donald Trump or an ex you loathe - and send it to a tangible Snapfax machine, a real fax machine which shreds it as it prints it out.
Created by Brothers and Sisters, using Stinkdigital’s RITA platform, Snapfax takes the spontaneity and ephemerality of today’s most popular messaging platforms, such as Snapchat, and brings it into the physical world. It allows non millennials to better take part in today's social media landscape by using innovative technology inspired by an iconic device responsible for some of the older generation’s earliest encounters with electronic communications – the fax machine. Snapfax, the 21st century social media platform experienced through a 1980s analogue interface, is fronted in an accompanying launch film by 22-year-old ‘tech entrepreneur’ Jacob Carney.
