English Description

For quite some time now, Costa Rica has been dragging a high fiscal deficit due to the waste, corruption and poor management of the government’s funds. In 2011, Costa Rica’s government tries to pass a fiscal plan called “tributary solidarity” consisting on a huge increase on taxes. According to the state, this plan was to make rich people pay more taxes. It was actually those who have less who would have to pay more. Its objective was to get people’s money, instead of having the government cut their internal expenses. Politicians did not want to have their money taken away.
