Credits & Description:

More than 600 pedestrians are killed on the Western Cape's roads each year. And while drinking and driving remains a serious problem throughout South Africa, no-one talks about these pedestrian fatalities, which are often also the result of being intoxicated. As a result, there is very little communication about the dangers of drinking and walking. It is particularly dangerous in the poorer urban areas (known locally as'townships', because they are often very poorly lit at night, with little or no road signs or dedicated walkways for pedestrians. The Xhosa word for Ubuthakathi means 'dealing with witchcraft' and this cultural relevance was clearly demonstrated in the film by using imagery taken from local tribal folklore to depict the demons the boys transform into when they get drunk.
